Eco Movers

I was recommended Eco Movers by a friend and would hesitate to use them again for the following mixed results. Pros: they showed up on time and worked hard with almost no breaks. They took care in packing everything. They are courteous. Cons: completely underestimated the amount of time it would take for packing. I was quoted 5 hrs. In practice it took 11 hrs (packing, dismantling, loading, unloading, assembling). Not respectful of the properties moving out of and into. Leaving/causing mess.

Thanks to Eco Movers, our move went very very smoothly, and we could not be happier with the service.I found the firm by chance on Google - it seemed to have very good reviews on most websites, but with all things on the internet, it's hard to tell which ones are genuine, so we were still a bit apprehensive. When I called up, I spoke with Jamie who was very helpful and accomodating to our needs - we were moving from a 1 bed flat but we had a LOT of stuff, so he secured us the larger version of their Luton van. The quote was very competitive and turned out to be pretty accurate. We were paying hourly, and in the end, we took a bit longer than expected - we underestimated the number of boxes we had! It still worked out a lot cheaper than some of the fixed priced quotes from other firms.On the day of the move, the team arrived exactly at 9am (right at the start of the 9-10am window they gave us). We had 2 guys, Nick and Gabor, who were friendly, courteous and very hard working through out the day. Our flat was on the 3rd floor (with no lift), and after a quick survey, they quickly got to work and started to move the boxes down. Gabor was doing most of the running up and down the stairs, and showed great strength and staminia - how these guys do this day in day out, is simply amazing. Nick was responsible for carefully packing everything into the van - he did this expertly, and efficiently made use of all the space available. Our biggest items (fridge freezer, washing machine, double bed, 3 1 seat sofa, computer desk) were no problem at all for the team, as they made it look easy as they navigated them down the winding stair case.After 3 hours, the flat was empty and the van was fully loaded. Our other car was also full, so I got a lift with Nick and Gabor to the new house.The unload was a lot easier, apart from the furniture, everything went straight from the van on the drive, to the garage - as Nick described it the "dream unload" :DAgain, I could not be happier with the service. From start to finish, my experience with Eco Movers has been very positive, and I will be happy to reccommend them toanyone.Thanks again to Gabor, Nick and Jamie. Service cost: £450

The EcoMovers team arrived promptly and set about packing up our items in a professional and calm manner. They made the whole process of moving house so much easier and stree-free. They were very friendly and mannerly and we trusted them with all of our valuables as they came across in such an assured manner. Would definitely recommend them for service delivery, quality of personnal and professionalism. They provided excellent value for money and made our move so much easier.

Our  experience couldn’t have been better. Not only were both delivery drivers really polite, helpful and friendly and worked extremely quickly they also helped us out of a difficult situation when Currys refused to bring the new fridge freezer I had ordered up to the flat.
 
The Currys delivery team said the fridge wouldn’t fit into the flat (even though the previous one was exactly the same size) and point blank refused to move it. The guys from Eco Movers got it in to the flat safely and efficiently in under five minutes, and couldn’t have been nicer about it.
 
It was exceptionally good value for the service we received and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Eco Movers to other people.

Service cost: £250

They do not look after sites at all. A £300 plant was ruined and left lying on the road and a chair was scratched. They will not pay out for either due to a £500 insurance excess. They get to throw around your hard earned things and then have no liability. We paid lots for their packing service as well as their removals.  Avoid.
The terms and conditions are hidden on their website and they do not tell you about the excess at booking. 

The overall price was ok but after seeing £30 lamps wrapped in so much paper and a box, I can see why it took them a whole day to pack. 

Ive used other companies for years and will go back to them if I move again. .

Lots of gushing reviews for this company, however, I found them a little lacking.

GOOD:
1. Very professional on telephone
2. Excellent quoting tool on website
3. Appear to run CRB checks, do training, etc for their movers

BAD:
There was only one bad thing and that was the movers. They handled boxes clearly marked 'FRAGILE' one handed, yes, one handed, dangling down! piled up boxes in their arms unsafely, and generally treated our possessions without great care. I don't think anything has been damaged, but it easily could have been!

I appreciate that they didn't want to be there all morning, but I expected better. One of the movers spent the entire time unloading huffing and puffing and groaning and took several personal calls on his mobile. I was disappointed.

That said, they were fairly quick and mostly cheerful. I might use them again as they were on the whole OK, but only after packing everything with extreme care in very strong boxes!

We did a double move with Eco Movers, first from our old flat to their storage, and then from their storage to our new flat.

To start off we were given poor advice in planning our move. First we were advised to use two trucks rather than one, which we agreed to. Then the day before the move we were advised that one truck would be sufficient - I now suspect they needed the second truck for another job. One truck turned out to be insufficient for the job and our truck needed to go back and forth to storage twice, got stuck in traffic, leading to double the time estimated for the move.

We were then given the choice to have our items taken out of storage on the morning of our second move, or the night before (to get an early start). What they did not tell us however, was that leaving our things in storage overnight rather than load them in the truck the night before the move would cost us a full week (!) charge for storage.

When moving from storage to our new flat Eco Movers used two trucks but forgot a large item in storage. So again they had to do the extra trip to storage and back to the flat.
On top of that, one of their men tired out half way through the day and had to quit.

We incurred damage on a number of items (pieces broken of furniture, soiled couch). We have moved four times in the past 10 years and never have we incurred any damage, until now. As advised by Eco Movers we gathered quotes for repairs and sent these in together with their claim form. We called and emailed with them about insurance several times before we filed the claim, and never was it mentioned to us (but apparently it is in the small print) that there is an excess of £500. Given that our claim was for just less than £500, Eco Movers were not liable.

Overall we had a poor experience with Eco Movers. They were always very friendly and responsive, but we were very disappointed with their advice, planning and execution, as well as the communication about their insurance policy.
